It seems like ELLE magazine just can’t get away from controversy.
First it was Melissa McCarthy‘s cover where they wrapped her up in a huge coat last year and now Mindy Kaling‘s black and white Women in TV cover issue is causing a stir.
Critics have slammed the magazine for featuring a close-up black and white shot of Kaling’s face opposed to a full body color shot like the other covers of the magazine which feature Zooey Deschanel, Amy Poehler and Allison Williams.
Mindy has taken to Twitter to defend her cover saying, “I love my @ELLEmagazine cover,” she tweeted. “It made me feel glamorous & cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me.”
ELLE magazine also spoke out in support of Mindy’s cover, “Mindy looks sexy, beautiful and chic,” the magazine said in a statement. “We think it is a striking and sophisticated cover and are thrilled to celebrate her in our Women in TV Issue.”
