Happy Easter my lovies! This tutorial is a little last minute but I wanted to get it up as I am so happy how these gold leaf Easter eggs turned out.
It was actually a sporadic idea as I originally bought an Easter egg colouring kit which came with foil however when I tried to put the foil on the egg, it looked nothing like I thought it would. I remembered I had some gold leaf sheets left over from another DIY project I did so I put that on the eggs instead and they turned out really pretty.
Gilding Adhesive (glue for the gold leaf sheets)
Gold Leaf Sheets
1. Start with colouring your eggs. I coloured mine the night before to make sure they were fully dry in the morning.
2. I used the glue that came in my egg colouring kit but you can use gilding adhesive. Place a thin layer of glue/adhesive over the egg. Allow the glue to dry until it feels tacky.
3. Press gold leaf onto the sticky area. It doesn’t have to be perfect as you want it in different areas on the egg.
TIP: Start by putting glue and gold leaf on one side of the egg first then work your way around.
Hope you guys enjoyed this fun and easy tutorial! Let me know how you decorated your Easter eggs in comments below!
