Spring is in full bloom. Pineapples are all the rage right now from fashion accessories, clothing, to even home decor. Pineapples just make me happy and when I think of pineapples I think of warm weather which is exactly why I created these cute pineapple planters.
I was also inspired by A Beautiful Mess‘ pineapple night light, and with gardening season, I thought why not add some colour to your home or garden.
To find out how to make these cute planters, just follow along with my step-by-step instructions!
Clay Pots (any size you want)
Craft Smart Acrylic Paint – Yellow
Craft Smart Acrylic Paint – Grass Green
Black Marker or Paint
Ashland Fern Collection Mini Boston Fern Bush
1. Start off by painting the pot yellow minus the top.
2. Paint the top of the pot green.
3. Once you have painted the pots and let them dry, start by making little “V” signs around the pot.
4. To put the ferns in the pots, I trimmed the ends of the ones I was putting in the smaller clay pots because they were too long. For the ferns to stay put, I took styrofoam balls and stuck the ferns in the balls. I placed the balls in the pot and covered them with moss.
TIP: If you’re planning on keeping the planters outside, make sure you use outdoor acrylic paint and a paint sealer to prevent the paint from running in the rain.
Extra tip: If you want to use a live plant, I would suggest aloe vera.
