Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water Review + 4 Ways To Use It

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water

A few weeks ago, I stepped into my local Sephora looking for a new primer. I find gel type primers very drying on my face and I was looking for a more moisturizing primer. I came across the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water, thanks to one of the sales associates.

At first I wasn’t sold on it as it was primer water, so I wasn’t sure how my makeup would last wearing it but I decided to give it a whirl. Plus, as you may already know, I am a sucker for trying out new makeup products.

I went for the smaller bottle as it wasn’t a product that they could give me a sample of since it was a spray bottle and this way if I didn’t love it, I wouldn’t have spent a lot of money.

When I first sprayed it on my face, the primer made my skin feel revitalized right away, it felt so refreshing. The primer reawakens the skin and restores moisture into the skin which is very important. It’s also packed with electrolytes and free of alcohol, oil and silicone (always a plus). My favourite way to use the primer is by spritzing it on my face in the middle of the day to reawaken my look.

How to use the primer:  Hold the bottle 8″-10″ away from your face and mist evenly. I first do a T across my face then a X.

This multi-purpose primer doesn’t only moisturize and lock down makeup, here are 4 ways to use the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water.

1. Toner – I have been cleansing my skin with the oil cleansing method since October 2014 and I haven’t been using a toner since. I started using the primer water as a toner as part of my skincare routine.

2. Primer Before Makeup Application – This should be self-explanatory. Before applying your makeup, spray the primer water on your face, let it dry, and then start applying your makeup.

3. Setting Spray – After creating the perfect makeup look, lock in your makeup with the primer water.

4. Refresher – During the day, your makeup can start looking rather dull. Spritz some primer water to wake up your face and your makeup look.

Where to buy/price: You can purchase the primer at your local Sephora or you can purchase it directly online, here. Cost: $16 or $32
